Download the Required Tools
This method involves booting your PC from the flash drive containing the ISO file. Follow the steps below to successfully carry out the reset.
- Download the ISO file from the link provided below.
- Download Rufus from the links provided below
- After you have downloaded both the ISO and Rufus, open Rufus by double-clicking on it. Click on slect to choose the ISO file you downloaded and then click on Start. The process will take around 5 minutes to complete.

When you are done, pull out the flash disk and insert it into the PC that needs to be restarted.
In order to boot the OS in the flash drive, we need to enter the BIOS menu. Open this link to know which button opens the BIOS menu on your PC.

- You now need to restart your PC. Once it begins to boot up again, hold the key that opens your BIOS that you got from the list above.
- Then navigate to the BOOT menu within the BIOS. You can use the arrow keys to navigate.
- Once inside the menu, select the option named Mass Storage or in other cases any other term that can be closely related to a flash disk then click enter.
The OS will boot to a homepage that looks like mine below:
- You will need to press the Windows logo key and then type NT password edit on the search bar. Open the application that appears.
- Click on Open to reveal a list of all users on your PC then select the user account whose password you want to change and click on Change password.
- Enter a password of your choice and re-enter to verify and click OK.
Now shut down the PC, pull out the flash disk and turn it on again. When prompted, enter your new password, and boom, you’re in!
